Anna Lis

Anna Lis is a lucky girl.  She was designed for a beautiful young woman, and will reside on a gorgeous horse ranch in Purcell, OK.

Anna Lis is definitely dear to my heart.  How many ways can a cross be made?  Remember His cross?  And on the back: western.  Did you notice the double horse heads on the shawl?   How 'bout the barbed wire coiling through the horse shoes?

Carl

Meet Carl my first male and the first jersey mannequin.  (FYI: Carl is the last jersey mannequin I will do!).  Carl came to me from a fun & funky mother & daughter.  These ladies were really fun to work with.
Carl now resides in Goldsby with his wonderfully unique family.

Cally

Cally was made for a classy, yet groovy, young teen.   She has a "diamond" choker on front, and a personalized t-stamp on back.  (shhh: Christmas gift).

Savannah

Savannah is both sides of a coin.  On the front she appeals to the wild side with zebra stripes.

On the back, Savannah appeals to our innocent side with the zebra stripes turning into graceful ribbons.  A painted glitter bow adds to the sweetness of Savannah.

Then there is the "tattoo" at the base of Savannah's neck.  Stare at it long enough and it begins to spiral.  It's just another element that makes Savannah confusing - like real life.

NOTE: Stay tuned for more on Savannah.  She just had a spa day to get ready for her move to her new home.  Oh life is good.

Roxanna

Roxanna was a hit at An Affair Of The Heart.  She was definitely the most popular.  Of course, her "back-words" of wisdom is always a plus.
Roxanna is modeling along with Ravin in Washington, Oklahoma.

Quinley

Quinley is a lucky, lucky girl.  She was specially designed for a young teenager and is living in Purcell, Oklahoma.  Quinley is vibrant, just like her girl.

Ravin

Ravin currently resides and models (along with Roxanna) in Washington, Oklahoma with a local photographer.

Lindy

Lindy is currently unattached.  She is looking for a contemporary home with an edge, or a teenager would do fine too.

Gizzell

Gizzell moved to San Antonio, Texas with a delightful woman named Lyla.  During the short time I visited with Lyla, I knew I had to name a mannequin after her.   Lyla Manningkin will be coming soon.  Meanwhile, Lyla, take care of Gizzell.  She definitely looks like she was made for San Antonio.

It All Began...

with the obsession of junking. Many, many, many moons ago on a trip to First Monday in Canton, Texas there they were: 2 sets of men's legs from the waist down, and a beautiful headless/armless male mannequin. What I actually had been trying to find were female arms to use as curtain tie-backs in my living room. But instead, I found these three treasures. I knew immediately what I was going to use the legs for; of course they would be table legs! The headless/armless fellow I was not quite sure, but I knew I couldn't leave him behind. So, the sis, sis-in-law and I carry these guys across the flea market in the rain to car. (Note to self: always take a pick-up or U-Haul to Canton!). Now, visualize three near-middle age women carrying body parts in the rain. LOL.

Fast forward years and years. My little family and I, along with the mannequins, move North across the Red River and settle down. We get the land and the horses and cows, and new art obsessions of course. I start a business (new obsession) with a friend. And I discover Craig's List (another addiction)! Lo & behold I find mannequins! Well, of course, I just had to have them! My wacko friend/business partner suggests painting one. ONE! I am sure you can guess the rest of the story. I can't stop with one. After the third one, I post pictures on Facebook (obsession #_) and they are a hit. Two sold immediately and orders are coming in. Now I am really hooked. My friend (let's call her Marsha) has a booth at An Affair Of The Heart (AAOTH) and we display the mannequins with her wares. Order after order after order. These girls were a hit!

I needed more mannequins! But, luckily I had made contact with a wonderful woman in Illinois (we will call her Amy) that just happened to have exactly the type of mannequins I needed and at a fabulous price. After working 4 days at AAOTH, Marsha and I headed up to Illinois (in the rain) and purchased a bunch of mannequins. What is it with mannequins and rain? Now I am in business.

So now, I would like to take space and say "Thank You" to:

  • All the people that fell in love with my art. And to those that have given the girls a new home. I am so happy to be able to create something that you love.
  • The wonderful husbands that so graciously took over when Marsha and I were preparing and working AAOTH and taking that whirlwind road trip to IL.
  • Marsha for being the wonderful friend and business partner in Sand-Mann, LLC, and Sanford And Manford, and Dreamin & Schemin. Painting the mannequins was not only your idea, but you are also the Queen of Bling for the girls! What will you think of next?
  • My DH Randy for being patient with me and all my obsessions, and for turning a blind eye to the house and the empty refridge.
  • Brooke and WiLL: Mommy is here somewhere. I love you so much!
  • My Heavenly Father for blessing me with a wonderful family and friends, and the gift of creativity.

It's Me!

Hi, I am Kelly and I paint mannequins. I do other things too, but the mannequins are my current passion.

I consider myself to be a jack of all trades - master of none. I like to do so many different types of art that it drives my family nuts. Some of my prior hot and heavy loves are: sewing, potting (as in pottery), blacksmithing, beading, painting of all sorts, and junking. I am sure I am leaving out a few, but
that seems to be enough for now. I hope to get back to all of those mediums, but space no longer allows that. So mannequins are the current obsession.

I am setting up this blog because I need a site for friends, the friends of friends, and potential friends to be able to view my works without having to "friend" me. Now, I don't mind friending these new friends, but sometimes people just want to see my art without being my friend and that's okay too. So, whether you are a new, old, future or not a friend at all, I hope you enjoy my art.
